Pets Ash Scattering
Scattering Ashes For Pets:
People love their pets and consider them members of their family. Caregivers celebrate their pets’ birthdays, confide in their animals, and carry pictures of them in their wallets. So when your beloved pet dies, it’s not unusual to feel overwhelmed with sorrow.
Animals provide companionship, acceptance, emotional support, and unconditional love during the time they share with you. If you understand and accept this bond between humans and animals, you’ve already taken the first step toward coping with pet loss: knowing that it is okay to grieve when your pet dies. Many consider grieving to be inappropriate for someone who has “just lost a pet.” Nothing could be further from the truth!
At Rest Ashured, we consider our pets family too, just like you. So we’ve created a separate scattering area for God’s special creatures. They deserve the respect, and you deserve to feel like you’ve done the best by them. Your pets’ ash scattering will be handled in a loving and dignified manner.
I wanted to write Rest Ashured and say thank you for all the kindness you showed my pets, because the spreading of their ashes in such a beautiful area made it seem like they were in heaven on earth. The service that you provide for the pet's ashes is wonderful and I am very grateful.
How it Works:
We know we can’t remove the sadness of your loss. But we can remove the extra steps involved in laying a beloved friend to rest. We truly do want to make this as easy as possible. Below are the simple steps to carry you through the entire process.
The following are the different scattering options we currently provide.
Your pet’s ashes will be scattered with care on our private property, which overlooks the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and portions of the James River. Our Mountain View property is still very much in its natural state, and cleared only enough to enhance the breathtaking views.
In honor of your beloved pet, we will plant an evergreen or deciduous tree on our secluded private property, located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Respectfully, we will incorporate the ashes during the planting process and strategically place it to stand as a memorial to your forever friend.
If you would like a personalized Memorial Stone for your furry friend, you can add this option to your purchase of the Mountain View or Tree Dedication Service.
The Memorial Stone is a 4-6 in. River Rock, engraved with a paw print. We will add your Pet’s Name (Note: Maximum of 20 characters) and place it at the scattering site.
Once you have selected and purchased a scattering option, you will receive a package in the mail with all the necessary materials to properly send your pet’s ashes to Rest Ashured. Our package will include the boxes, label, instruction, tape… Everything. Your only part in this process is following the packing instructions and sending it to us. We’ve thought of everything, so you don’t have to.
When we receive the package from you, we will respectfully scatter the ash, then send you a Certificate of Release that includes the date and location of the scattering.
“I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine.
About Us and Why be Began:
We are a small family owned business dedicated to honoring God and all His creation. One way we feel we can best do that is to offer the land He’s blessed us with to others in their time of grief and/or need of a final resting place. Our goal is to provide excellent communication with anyone who contacts us, and to perform an honorable scattering of their loved one’s ashes.
It was after the death and cremation of a close relative, and thinking of how thankful we were to have a place to scatter the ashes of our loved ones, that we began to consider how others who didn’t have such a place might feel. What were their options? After much consideration and prayer, we felt we had finally discovered the reason why we were blessed with such an amazing piece of land.
Initially, our focus was on those who had inherited ashes – people that were looking for an affordable and honorable place to lay them to rest. We wanted to fill that need while also providing legal, simple, and beautiful options. Then, as we talked with family, friends, and coworkers, we discovered that many people are now choosing cremation over burial – many more than we had expected. The reasons ranged from the expense of burials to the transient nature of our society now. (Whereas generations of a family would all be buried in the same cemetery, people are now much less likely to stay in their hometown.) And many expressed their desire to be scattered in a natural location versus an urn or mausoleum.
And finally, after realizing that we could donate more of our time and money to the charities we support*, it became an obvious answer to the question that started out about the needs of others. We had come full circle and not even realized it… We could serve others at the beginning and the end of this process. And so Rest Ashured was born.
