Thoughts on the Reverent Treatment of Inherited Ashes

After the cremation of a loved one, some family members find it comforting to keep the ashes with them at home.  But what happens when that survivor also passes away?

In some cases, remaining family members are willing to take possession of the ashes. But in other circumstances, the ashes may be inherited by a relative who is not comfortable having the ashes in the house.

This creates a real concern for the person who would prefer not to have an ancestor’s cremains in their home.

If that describes your own experience, Rest Ashured fully understands your situation. In fact, we were started in order to help deal with that exact problem.

We understand that while you may not wish to have the ashes in your home, you want to make sure that the ashes are legally and respectfully accommodated. Often, the costs of cemetery plots and columbarium interment make those options impractical.

Rest Ashured provides a solution that is both reverent and affordable.  We receive those ashes and give them a permanent resting place in our beautiful mountaintop scattering garden in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

We can provide a simple, economical scattering within our property, or can incorporate the ashes into the planting of a memory tree or shrub. An engraved stone with the decedent’s name and dates of life stands as a permanent memorial at the site.

As an alternative, we can provide an attended or unattended burial at sea from a number of east-coast locations.

In either case, you get the peace of mind knowing that the ashes have been laid to rest in a dignified and meaningful manner.

So if you have ashes that you are ready to part with, please get in touch with us to explore the cost-effective choices we offer.
