Mountain View with Memorial Stone:
Whether family, friend, or pet – your loved one’s ashes will be released in our beautiful scatter garden with care. An engraved memorial stone will then be placed at the scatter site to serve as a remembrance of their life.
Our Mountain Views property is still very much in its natural state, and cleared only enough to enhance the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and portions of the James River. While there are no words to truly describe it, these are a few of our favorites…
Early morning clouds often settle at eye level across the river, nestled in the ridges of neighboring mountains. The nearby waterfall provides a soothing sound of rest and tranquility. The breeze on your face is as constant as the abundant wildlife just living life in and around this bluff. Later, a spectacular sunset over majestic mountains will take center stage. But after the sun goes down, the stars take over. Away from the glow of city lights, the crystal-clear views of the heavens are rivaled only by those of the mountains. Here, life is undisturbed and unfiltered. Just another day in awe of the Creator’s handiwork.
On behalf of a grateful family, Rest Ashured is pleased to provide a 50% discount on the Mountain Views option for those whose loved one was a veteran of the United States Military.
In order to receive the Condolence Code necessary for the discount, we request a copy of their DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty Form (aka: DD 214). If the DD Form 214 is not available, please give us a call to discuss other discharge forms.
You don't know what a relief it was for me to have his ashes scattered and a stone placed and know he was finally at peace. I thank you with all my heart.
Just wanted to write to thank you all for a great experience, even after the terrible time of my husband’s death. Everything went so smoothly, which brought me great comfort and a sense of peace. I loved the stone and can’t tell you how relieved I am knowing he’s at rest in such a beautiful place. He always loved the mountains….
How it Works:
We can’t remove the sadness of your loss. But we can remove the extra steps involved in laying a loved one to rest once your family and friends have said their goodbyes. We truly do want to make this as easy as possible. Below are the simple steps to carry you through the entire process.
Once you have selected and purchased a scattering option, you will receive a package in the mail with all the necessary materials to properly send your loved one’s remains to Rest Ashured. Our package will include the boxes, label, instruction, tape… Everything. Your only part in this process is following the packing instructions and sending it to us. We’ve thought of everything, so you don’t have to.
When we receive the package from you, we will respectfully scatter the ash and will send you a Certificate of Release that includes the date and location of the scattering.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
About Us and Why We Began:
We are a small family owned business dedicated to honoring God and all His creation. One way we feel we can best do that is to offer the land He’s blessed us with to others in their time of grief and/or need of a final resting place. Our goal is to provide excellent communication with anyone who contacts us, and to perform an honorable scattering of their loved one’s ashes.
It was after the death and cremation of a close relative, and thinking of how thankful we were to have a place to scatter the ashes of our loved ones, that we began to consider how others who didn’t have such a place might feel. What were their options? After much consideration and prayer, we felt we had finally discovered the reason why we were blessed with such an amazing piece of land.
Initially, our focus was on those who had inherited ashes – people that were looking for an affordable and honorable place to lay them to rest. We wanted to fill that need while also providing legal, simple, and beautiful options. Then, as we talked with family, friends, and coworkers, we discovered that many people are now choosing cremation over burial – many more than we had expected. The reasons ranged from the expense of burials to the transient nature of our society now. (Whereas generations of a family would all be buried in the same cemetery, people are now much less likely to stay in their hometown.) And many expressed their desire to be scattered in a natural location versus an urn or mausoleum.
And finally, after realizing that we could donate more of our time and money to charitable organizations that we support, it became an obvious answer to the question that started out about the needs of others. We had come full circle and not even realized it… We could serve others at the beginning and the end of this process. And so Rest Ashured was born.
