Rest Ashured’s mountaintop scattering garden stands as one of the most scenic and serene settings in this part of Virginia.
The site overlooks the James River, and the soft rush of a small waterfall can actually be heard from the garden. In the distance, the Blue Ridge Mountains affirm their name as they provide a rich indigo backdrop to our tranquil garden scene—and serve as a frame for spectacular sunsets.
While there are many evergreens in the Rest Ashured environment (including those in our stand of memorial trees), a multitude of deciduous trees, such as poplars and oak, work wonders in the autumn to enhance the panorama with shimmering shades of gold, orange and red.
Our undeveloped acres are home to a variety of wildlife. During the course of the year, deer and turkey are frequent visitors. The varied sounds of songbirds blend with the whispers of the mountaintop winds.
